Get Lamp is a documentary that explores the rise and legacy of text adventure games, a form of interactive storytelling that existed entirely through words. It follows the history of the genre from its early origins to its peak during the era of Infocom and beyond, when players navigated complex worlds by typing commands and imagining everything through text alone. Through interviews with designers, programmers, and passionate players, the film traces how these games were created, how they were experienced, and why they continue to matter to the people who grew up with them. It also reflects on the creative freedom and imagination that defined the medium, and how it shaped early ideas of what games could be.
