UNDERGROWTH FESTIVAL is a two day cross cultural festival, celebrating the work of up and coming cultural actors. Guests are invited to meet artists, musicians and cultural workers operating within the cultural undergrowth of Aalborg.
Local culture house 1000fryd will be transformed into a hub for artistic expression and dialogue: join the conversation, as we discuss our local art scene and the conditions for sustainable artistic growth.

The UNDERGROWTH FESTIVAL programme includes performances, visual art, musical guests and panel discussions with local cultural actors. Our invited artists will be showcasing work under the theme UNDERGROWTH, exploring what it means to be a seedling amidst the forest.
(programme to be announced)

During the festival guests can enjoy the ever-amazing vegan food by VeganDóttir, who are taking over 1000fryds traditional vegan soup kitchen ❤
VeganDóttir is the only 100% vegan restaurant in Aalborg, and cook everything in-house with local organic produce. In 2021, only a year after opening, they were praised for having the best burgers in Aalborg by BT and nominated for Årets Ildsjæl by Aalborg Awards.

We provide a welcome and goodbye drink at the official opening and closing - the celebration then continues at the NEMA X UNDERGROWTH afterparty ❤
NEMA’s mission is to promote a nightlife culture which focuses on safer spaces. They value inclusion, equality and mutual respect for all individuals, and are working towards introducing the Safer Spaces concept to the cultural life of Aalborg.

UNDERGROWTH FESTIVAL includes day and night activities, and is open for families and kids of all ages. Our focus is bringing art and activism together through dialogue, knowledge sharing and artistic experiences that celebrate the local cultural scene and community.
Graciously supported by Region Nordjylland and Aalborg Kommune

THE UNDERGROWTH is a Safer Space open for all, where the public meets artists, cultural workers, experts and each other at eye level.
